Job summary

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience in a shipyard setting.
• 1–2 years of marine electrical experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Travel to field locations is required; transportation paid.
• Ability to work 50 hours per week, and 7 days as needed.
• Ability to read, interpret hydraulic diagrams and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment problems and perform repairs.
• Identify and perform repairs aboard dredges and marine vessels.
• Install, maintain, and repair hydraulic equipment including winches and pumps.
• Read diagrams, schematics, blueprints and manuals for diagnostics.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Rotation (19/9)

Position Summary

Responsible for repairing and maintaining various heavy mechanical equipment in a shipyard setting including but not limited to cranes, bull dozers, excavators. This is a rotational position (19 days on/9 days off) at 12 hours per days. Travel required.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment remedies and problems.


• Identify, propose, and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance aboard dredges and other marine vessels.


• Install, assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various mechanical and hydraulic equipment; including but not limited to winches, gearboxes, clutches, and pumps.


• Reads diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for repair and diagnostic information of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.


• Sets up mechanical equipment and provides assistance to users of equipment.


• Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an "Incident and Injury Free" work environment.


• Follows other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or manager.


• Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.


• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience in a ship[yard setting


• 1-2 years of marine electrical experience minimum


• Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site


• Travel (by land, air, and water) to field locations is required, transportation paid.


• Ability to work a 50-hour work week M-F, overtime as needed


• Must be able to work 7 days/week as needed


• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot hydraulic drawings and systems


• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings


• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment


• Ability to work independently and with others - team player


• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.


• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Driver's license, must have a good driving record.


• Trade Certification or equivalent helpful, but not necessary


• TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential (preferred)


• Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels.


• Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.


• Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts up to 50 lbs. Unassisted.


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and lift for long periods of time.


• Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms.


• Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.


• Performs other duties as required.
