Job summary

Page Mechanical Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for the Morgan City, LA area. Duties include operating excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and other machinery, with pipe laying and trenching tasks as needed.

You will coordinate with pipe crews, perform daily equipment checks, and ensure safety and quality on site. A construction background and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators, skid steers, and bulldozers (minimum 1 year preferred).
• Knowledge reading blueprints helpful.
• Experience with cutting grade.
• Experience operating equipment around pipe (Drainage, sewage, etc.).
• Pipe laying experience (minimum 1 year preferred).
• Construction background (1 year minimum).
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Experience cutting trenches/slopes.
• Grading and excavation experience.
• Ability to use good judgement and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with pipe crews inside trench or trench boxes.
• Lay pipe for underground storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
• Communicate with concrete and/or pipe crews to accomplish tasks.
• Perform daily checks on equipment.
• Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors as required.
• Grade trenches or culverts, move earth, position pipe, erect structures.
• Inspect machinery before and after use and report defects.
• Load and unload cargo and move it between points.
• Follow safety processes to ensure quality of work.
• Render regular repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management.

• Job Scope:
  • Heavy equipment operators control specialized machines used in construction, maintenance and operations. They may run excavators, loaders, cranes, pile drivers, graders and industrial trucks. While working with others, they often use hand signals or radios to coordinate movements.
• Required Skills:
  • MUSThave experience with operating anEXCAVATOR, SKID STEER,&BULLDOZER (1 year minimum preferred)

• Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ability to coordinate with pipe crews while working inside trench or trench boxes.
  • Will be required to lay pipe for underground storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Communicate with concrete and/or pipe crews to accomplish task
  • Perform daily checks on equipment
  • Ability to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be able to perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts / move and grade earth, position pipe, erect structures from the ground, move materials around the project
  • Inspection of the machinery before and after to ensure that it is in good working condition. If upon inspection, some defects or issues are found, the operator will report them so that they can be addressed appropriately.
  • Loading and unloading the cargo and moving it from point A to point B.
  • Following safety, processes to ensure the quality of work.
  • Rendering regular repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Reporting more serious defects for repair by an authorized service provider.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
  • Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 LBS
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis
  • Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.
  • Excellent physical strength & stamina
  • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock

• Must be able to pass drug screen.
• Must be able to provide own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves)
• Must have reliable transportation
• Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday (Weekends as Needed)
    • 10-12 Hour Days (with weather permitting)
• Duration of Job:Temp to Hire (Based on Job Performance)
