Job summary

S.T. Wooten Corporation in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Heavy Highway Division - Motor Grader Operator. You will operate motor graders and other equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, and to lay road bed materials for infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include pre-shift inspections, safe operation, coordinating with crew, and performing related labor as needed. The role requires 21+ years old, 4+ years of experience, and willingness to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Prefer at least 4 years of operating experience.
• Must be able to fine grade within 1/4 inch and operate motor grader safely.
• Must be able to read grade stakes.
• Must be able to work with others.
• Operator experience in multiple types of equipment is a plus.
• Willing to do laborer work if necessary.
• Must pass all background requirements and have a clean driving record.
• Willing to work nights and weekends.
• Dependable with a good work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, power cranes, shovels, or related equipment.
• Start machine, engage clutch, and push and move levers, switches, and pedals to guide machine and operate attachments.
• Drive and maneuver equipment over working areas to remove or distribute earth and rock.
• Spread, smooth, level, or finish concrete, asphalt, or road bed materials as needed.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment and report concerns.
• Follow safety regulations and be responsible for at-fault accidents.
• Work long hours including nights and weekends as demanded by customers.
• Coordinate machine actions with crew signals.
• Perform general labor duties as required.
