Job summary

City of Greensboro is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to service 150+ dumpsters and up to 1,000 carts daily, using front-loader, side-loader, and knuckle boom trucks. This is outdoor, production-driven work that requires focus and a strong commitment to safety and reliability.

The role features a 40-hour flex schedule, early morning starts, occasional Saturdays, and a strong emphasis on safe operation. A valid Class B CDL and relevant waste-industry experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED, with1+ years experience in the Solid Waste Industry (i.e., refuse, recycling)
• No High School Diploma/GED, with 4+ years of experience in the Solid Waste Industry (i.e., refuse, recycling)
• A or B Commercial Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Operating front-loader, side-loader, and knuckle boom collection vehicles
• Following written and route-based instructions
• Operating two-way radios and communicating effectively in verbal and written form
• Preparing survey sheets and vehicle inspection reports
• Maintaining a safe driving record and adhering to all safety standards
