City of Greensboro is seeking a Solid Waste Operator to perform heavy manual collection of yard waste, bulk items, and other materials while assisting with the safe operation of a rear-loading solid waste truck.

This entry-level role keeps Greensboro clean and offers practical experience in waste management and public service. The position requires a CDL Class A or B and an ability to work outdoors on a 40-hour schedule, with potential early mornings, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED with 1+ years experience operating vehicles that require a CDL.
• Or No High School diploma/GED with 5-7 years of experience operating vehicles that require a CDL.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.

Responsabilités

• Collect refuse, recycling, yard waste, and bulk materials safely and efficiently.
• Operate and drive a rear-loading collection vehicle once licensed.
• Follow established routes and service schedules.
• Communicate effectively using radios and written documentation.
• Complete daily survey sheets and vehicle inspection forms.
• Provide courteous customer service to residents.
• Cross-train in other Solid Waste operations as needed.
