Job summary

B&S Site Development is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, loaders, and other heavy machinery on large civil projects in Virginia. The role requires adherence to safety standards and precise execution of trenching and material handling tasks.

You will support storm/water/sewer installations, coordinate with crews, and follow Foreman instructions to keep projects on schedule. Must be 18+ with valid experience and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of construction experience.
• GED/high school diploma or related work experience.
• Trade school or prior experience operating heavy equipment a plus.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment/materials up to 50 pounds.
• Capacity to provide and follow direction.
• Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers, and other heavy equipment.
• Excavate trenches for utility installation with precision.
• Assist crews in storm, water, and sewer pipe installation.
• Always follow site safety protocols.
• Maneuvering heavy motorized equipment to ensure accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Prepare construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
