Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Driller Trainee for construction work in New Haven, Vermont. This entry-level role offers training on backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and loaders, with a clear path into the drilling and blasting industry.

The position pays $20–$22 per hour plus a travel stipend. A valid driver’s license, safety-minded attitude, and ability to work in varying weather are required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating earth-moving construction equipment is helpful.
• Valid driver's license with own transportation.
• Experience as construction laborer.
• Good common sense around equipment and machinery operation.
• Mechanical aptitude based on past experience with equipment, motors, hydraulics or electrical systems.
• Must pass ATF screenings.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions from Superintendents, Blasting Supervisor or Drill Operators.
• Safety-minded and able to work in varying weather environments.
• Out of town travel and overtime may be required.
• Perform daily maintenance for safe operation of equipment.
• Adhere to Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Learn drill patterns and execute as established by the Blaster Foreman.
• Inventory accessories and understand costs.
• Communicate problems and terrain conditions to the Blaster/Foreman.
• Complete drill reports, hole sheets, and timecards.
