Job summary

The City of Seguin is seeking an Equipment Operator I to operate light and heavy equipment for drainage infrastructure. You will support maintenance and construction projects in the Public Works Department and assist with underground storm drain work.

Work is outdoors in varying weather; there is a potential for on-call emergencies. Requires a High School diploma and at least one year of relevant equipment experience; a Class A or B CDL must be obtained within one year of employment.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend routine maintenance documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication required.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with City personnel.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 85 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and street sweepers.
• Performs drainage maintenance, erosion control, and line inspections.
• Provides traffic control for construction and emergencies.
• Maintains underground storm drain systems and open channels.
• Uses tablets and smartphones for inspections and timekeeping.
• Responds to emergency calls and participates in cross-training.
