Job summary

Southland Holdings in Beaumont, TX seeks an Equipment Operator for a large highway project in West Texas. Local candidates with heavy equipment experience are encouraged to apply.

You will safely operate bulldozers and excavators, maintain logs, and ensure all safety rules are followed. Responsibilities include reading locate sheets, reporting hazards, and performing tasks with attention to health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience operating heavy equipment in high traffic environments.
• Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for duties.
• Must work in all weather conditions including extreme heat/cold.
• Knowledge of sub-base materials and compaction.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including backing up, flagging, signage, incident reporting, PPE and lifting heavy loads.
• Knowledge of underground/overhead services and articulation.
• Must work independently and maintain a schedule.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation of bulldozer and excavator/trackhoe.
• Handling and/or moving material.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage and maintenance.
• Identify, report and correct hazards.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental rules to enhance safety.
• Read locate sheets and assess underground/overhead utilities.
• Apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
