Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative is seeking a Yard Equipment Operator to help keep our power generation operations running safely and efficiently. You’ll operate heavy equipment, support coal and ash handling, and work with an experienced team to ensure reliable plant operations while building your skills in an essential energy career.

You will inspect, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, applying mechanical and electrical knowledge to detect issues and prevent

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 months of heavy equipment operating experience.
  • Plant experience and/or at least 1 year of heavy industrial mechanical or electrical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, haul trucks, and scrapers to handle, condition, convey, and store coal and ash and maintain plant grounds.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment with routine lubrication, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and conveyors.
  • Apply mechanical and electrical skills to identify issues using hand tools and handheld tech and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Work as part of a safety-focused team, supporting colleagues and keeping areas clean and ready for operation.
