Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to operate street sweepers, bulldozers, loaders, paving machines and related equipment on a regular schedule. The role requires proficiency with a variety of heavy trucks and construction gear and a valid CDL.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of related experience; ASE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Four years of related experience.
• Valid state CDL required.
• ASE certification or NATEC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Level dirt in parking lots in preparation for asphalt crew.
• Distribute earth to desired levels.
• Cut, swell and ditch for drainage as needed.
• Dig and load dirt, sand, gravel onto trucks or equipment.
• Operate equipment to excavate and grade for site improvements.
• Use equipment to remove trees and rocks from land.
• Operate forklift to move materials, equipment and furniture.
• Service equipment with gas, oil and water as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

CDL (Commercial Driver's License)

ASE Certification (preferred)
