Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a variety of trucks and construction equipment in a regular assignment. The role includes operating street sweepers, bulldozers, loaders, paving machinery, backhoes, and forklifts, with responsibility for proper maintenance and safety checks.

The ideal candidate holds a valid CDL and has several years of related field experience.

Qualifications

• Requires four (4) years of related experience.
• Valid state CDL is required.
• ASE certification or National Institute for Automotive Service certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Level dirt in parking lots in preparation for asphalt crew.
• Distribute earth to desired levels.
• Cut, swells and ditch for drainage as needed.
• Use equipment to dig ditches for renovations.
• Dig and load dirt, sand, gravel, etc. onto trucks or other equipment.
• Utilize equipment to excavate and grade for site improvements.
• Use equipment to remove trees and rocks from land.
• Operate forklift to move materials, equipment and furniture.
• Service equipment with gas, oil and water as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
