Job summary

U.S. Department of the Interior seeks an Engineering Equipment Operator to operate a range of heavy equipment for earthmoving and site preparation on trails, roads, and canals. The role includes routine maintenance and basic repairs, with potential tasks involving electrical work for housing facilities and basic framing or scaffold construction.

The position requires U.S. citizenship, a valid Class B CDL with hazmat endorsement, and adherence to safety, background, and drug-testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Must pass background investigation, Selective Service registration where applicable, and E-Verify.
• Pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to move, push, load, or spread materials such as sand, gravel, and earth to specifications on trails, roads, canals, or construction sites.
• Perform daily/periodic maintenance and basic repairs on equipment and attachments.
• May install or repair electrical systems for housing units and related facilities; construct frames, decking, and scaffolds.
