Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate various construction machines, perform safety checks, and support site grading and earthwork.

This role requires minimum one year of operator experience, a valid CDL when driving on public roads, and compliance with all safety policies at a full-time, non-union site. Preferred NCCER certifications include Heavy Equipment Operations, Rigger, Site Layout, and related qualifications.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience as an equipment operator.
  • Must understand safe work practices for each piece of equipment.
  • Commercial driver's license is required when operating on public roads.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic or electric powered equipment to move objects according to project specifications.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to signals.
  • Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, or related equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and document maintenance logs, perform daily inspections.
  • Understand trenching, grading and safety regulations; identify hazards and stop work if needed.
