Summary
The Equipment Operator will work collaboratively with Laborers and the Foreman to complete jobsite activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate various heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, backhoes, etc.
- Perform tasks such as fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling using appropriate equipment.
- Use GPS systems and interpret grade stakes and hubs for grade control and finishing.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment.
- Assist in repairing and maintaining construction vehicles.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including fluid and filter changes and lubrication.
- Clean equipment regularly and when required.
- Ensure equipment is safely stored after use.
- Follow OSHA safety standards.
- Work independently and manage schedules effectively.
- Perform general labor tasks outside of equipment operation as needed.
- Maintain a neat appearance and dress appropriately for the job.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Be a team player with effective communication skills.
- Display a positive attitude towards the company and the job.
Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Proven ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Valid driver/operator license.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
- Understanding of safety procedures and ability to enforce them.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and colleagues.
- Skillful with hand and power tools.
- Experience operating excavators, backhoes, trenchers, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, and walk continuously during the workday.
- Use fine motor skills frequently.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and climb regularly.
- Lift between 10 to 150 pounds.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including loud environments.
- Prioritize safety to prevent injury to self and others.
Skills
- Ability to read and understand English.
