Summary

The Equipment Operator will work collaboratively with Laborers and the Foreman to complete jobsite activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate various heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, backhoes, etc.
2. Perform tasks such as fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling using appropriate equipment.
3. Use GPS systems and interpret grade stakes and hubs for grade control and finishing.
4. Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
5. Work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
6. Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment.
7. Assist in repairing and maintaining construction vehicles.
8. Perform preventive maintenance, including fluid and filter changes and lubrication.
9. Clean equipment regularly and when required.
10. Ensure equipment is safely stored after use.
11. Follow OSHA safety standards.
12. Work independently and manage schedules effectively.
13. Perform general labor tasks outside of equipment operation as needed.
14. Maintain a neat appearance and dress appropriately for the job.
15. Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
16. Be a team player with effective communication skills.
17. Display a positive attitude towards the company and the job.

Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

1. Proven ability to operate heavy equipment.
2. Valid driver/operator license.
3. High school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of relevant experience.
4. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
5. Understanding of safety procedures and ability to enforce them.
6. Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and colleagues.
7. Skillful with hand and power tools.
8. Experience operating excavators, backhoes, trenchers, etc.

Physical Requirements

1. Sit, stand, and walk continuously during the workday.
2. Use fine motor skills frequently.
3. Bend, kneel, squat, and climb regularly.
4. Lift between 10 to 150 pounds.
5. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including loud environments.
6. Prioritize safety to prevent injury to self and others.
