Job summary

Gray & Son Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for Dozer, Excavator, Loader, Backhoe, and Grader roles in Norris City, Illinois. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered for candidates with at least 2 years of experience.

The positions involve daily equipment maintenance and operation across large-scale grading and utility projects. Join our team to operate and maintain heavy machinery, participate in safety huddles, and support project foremen and superintendents.

Responsibilities

• Greasing equipment daily, perform morning rounds and fluid checks, complete maintenance checklist to preserve equipment health and records.
• Operate machines by adjusting controls to use blades, buckets, scrapers, and attachments on bulldozers, excavators, graders and backhoes.
• Align machines with stakes and guidelines, following signals from crew, and coordinate actions with other activities and loads.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials using trucks, tractors, cranes, shovels and related equipment, and evenly distribute terrain."
• Attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent.

Join our Grading and Utility teams as a Heavy Equipment Operator, where your skills will drive the success of large-scale projects!

We are looking for experienced equipment operators for the following roles:

$3,000 sign on bonus if you have at least 2 years of experience!

• Excavator Operator
• Loader Operators
• Backhoe Operators
• Grader Operators

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily equipment greasing, morning “walk arounds” and fluid checks. Complete daily maintenance checklist to ensure your equipment is properly maintained, and to ensure the proper preservation of equipment maintenance records.
• Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing brooms. Start engines, move throttles, switches and levers, and depresses pedals to operate machines such as bulldozers, excavators, graders and backhoes.
• Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground, or position equipment following hand signals of other workers. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using trucks, tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, and related equipment. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain.
• Willingly attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Other duties as assigned as assigned by your Foreman or Superintendent.
