Job summary

Gray & Son Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator in Norris City, IL to operate skid steers, bulldozers, graders and excavators for earth excavation, movement and grading. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered. Responsibilities include grading, material handling, and supporting foremen during daily huddles and toolbox talks.

Qualifications

• Operate large power construction equipment such as skid steer, end dump, bulldozers, graders and excavators.
• Willingness to participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Maintain safe and productive grading, excavation and material handling depending on site needs.

Responsibilities

• Grade and excavate; move materials safely and efficiently.
• Complete daily equipment checks and general maintenance.
• Attend morning huddles with Foremen and Superintendents.
• Assist Foremen/Superintendents as required.
• Align and coordinate machine operations based on hand signals and site requirements.
• Load/move dirt, rocks and materials using support equipment; operate equipment with blades to level terrain.
• Support Foremen/Superintendents in daily duties and safety practices.

The Equipment Operator will operate one or several types of large power construction machinery, such as skid steer, end dump, bulldozers, graders, and excavators to excavate, move and grade earth.

Job Duties

• Able to grade excavate, move materials in a safe and productive manner.
• Complete daily maintenance, walk around and fill out checklist.
• Willingly attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Other duties as assigned as assigned by your Foreman or Superintendent.
• Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground, or position equipment following hand signals of other workers. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using trucks, tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, and related equipment. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain.
• Willingly attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Other duties as assigned as assigned by your Foreman or Superintendent.
