Shelor Motor Mile in Christiansburg, VA is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate and maintain heavy machinery at road and construction sites. The role includes daily safety checks, equipment cleaning, and inventory maintenance, with emphasis on safety and efficient work practices.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid license, knowledge of equipment operation, and strong record-keeping abilities to document pickups and daily tasks.

Formación

• Valid driver’s license, unrestricted.
• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
• Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, skid steers and other heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
• Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
• Knowledge of record-keeping system.
• Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures.

Job Duties

• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
• Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
• Practice workplace safety.
• Maintain inventory.
• Use equipment for snow removal.
• Use equipment to level roads and ensure proper drainage.
• Manual labor – dig ditches, work with/servicing equipment, lifting in gross of 100 lbs. and any other manual labor as directed by supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Valid driver’s license, unrestricted.
• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
• Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, skid steers and other pieces of heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.
