Job summary

Gfoat seeks a skilled Mechanic for the Public Works Department in Freeport, TX. The role involves maintaining and repairing City heavy equipment and vehicles, diagnosing diesel and gasoline engines, and performing preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Texas Driver's License (Class B) with clean driving record.
• ASE Certification in heavy equipment and diesel engines preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on City heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Respond to roadside or field repairs.
• Conduct check-ins, make-ready and decommissioning of new vehicles and equipment.
• Order parts and manage supplies using the work order system.
• Maintain safe, organized garage and ensure PPE and tools are in good condition.
