Job summary

Rhode Island College is seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Mechanic/Operator to operate, service, repair and inspect a range of heavy construction equipment. The role includes maintaining water lines and surfaces, and supervising maintenance staff as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma with mechanics exposure and experience operating heavy diesel and gasoline equipment. The position is full‑time with a standard 40‑hour week and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of methods, practices and tools for maintaining heavy equipment.
• Ability to repair or replace engines, drive trains and front ends of heavy equipment.
• Ability to grade roads, parking lots and paths with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, service and maintain heavy construction equipment.
• Repair and replace engines, drive trains and front ends of equipment.
• Maintain records and reports of service/repair work.
• Possibly direct assigned subordinates in skilled maintenance.
