Amentum is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to operate, repair, maintain, and test heavy construction equipment. The role involves diagnostics, major system repairs, and preventive maintenance across a range of vehicles and flightline support equipment.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust US Government clearance. Amentum emphasizes safety and quality in all tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience maintaining heavy equipment.
• Licensed or trained to operate heavy equipment.
• Experience in major system repairs.
• Motor vehicle air conditioning certification preferred.
• Specialized knowledge in diesel/heavy automotive repair.
• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of diagnostics and ability to perform technical research on computer.
• English reading/writing proficiency.
• US Citizenship required for Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Mobile Maintenance duties: replace hydraulic lines, A/C, wheels/tires, wipers, and light bulbs.
• Perform heavy equipment maintenance including diagnostics and preventive maintenance.
• Disassemble and reassemble engines and mechanical units to inspect parts with test equipment.
• Replace/repair hydraulic cylinders, valves, drive units, suspensions, bearings.
• Operator care: washing, vacuuming, and cleaning.
• Perform routine inspections: check oil, water, tires.
• Promote safety and environmental practices in the workplace.
