Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled Mechanic at the Sierrita operations near Tucson, AZ. Under direct supervision, you will diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers and loaders in a mine and manufacturing setting.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of heavy equipment experience, the ability to read schematics, and knowledge of hydraulic, powertrain and engine systems. We offer comprehensive benefits and a pathway for growth.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in heavy equipment mechanical/maintenance or related repair.
• Able to read and use schematics.
• Knowledge of machine systems including hydraulic, powertrain and engines.
• Must demonstrate aptitude and pass written assessment if required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment such as haul trucks, dozers and loaders.
• Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps and final drives.
• Perform lubrication and preventive maintenance on hydraulic, powertrain and engine systems.
• Operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts and boom trucks as required.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and complete work orders.
