Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain large mining machinery at our globetrotting Arizona operations. You will handle engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems, perform lubrication, and manage safety-focused repairs on heavy equipment.

The role includes supervising as needed and mentoring colleagues, with opportunities for training and progression within a safety-first environment. On-site with shift possibilities.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or related field.
• Ability to understand and apply safety-related instructions in English.
• Ability to read and use blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems.
• Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments and safety standards.
• Ability to prioritize repairs and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment (haul trucks, water trucks, dozers, loaders, graders).
• Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps and other components.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication maintenance on hydraulic and power-train systems.
• Prioritize repairs and manage work orders; conduct inspections.
• Operate mobile equipment (cranes, forklifts, boom trucks).
• Mentor and train other employees as needed.
