Job summary

The City of Lincoln is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, transportation, and other industrial applications. This role requires a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and equipment safety.

Candidates must have a valid Class A or B license, read and interpret manuals, follow safety rules, and work with Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Fluent English and good reading ability.
• Ability to interpret schematics and read service manuals.
• Experience with Excel and Outlook a plus.
• Knowledge of crane operation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair using diagnostic computer tools.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and safety rules.
• Access online service manuals and interpret them.
• Communicate with the Manager and team.
• Rebuild small components as needed.
