Job summary

City of Lincoln is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform journeyman-level work on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment, including on-highway trucks, ready-mix vehicles, and construction machinery. This role ensures fleet operations meet safety, performance, and reliability standards.

Essential duties include tune-ups, engine repairs, diagnostics with OEM software, and maintenance of transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of heavy-duty diesel equipment maintenance experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform tune-ups, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines.
• Use OEM software to diagnose engines and transmissions.
• Overhaul transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension components.
• Repair fuel and emission control systems and electrical components.
• Submit required work orders and report time spent on the job.
• Perform welding on steel and aluminum using Gas, Arc, and Mig welding techniques.
