Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation in Kalispell seeks a Service / Combination B to assist with maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment, including autos and trucks, and various construction equipment. Duties include diagnosing, adjusting, and replacing parts, as well as tire service and routine lubrication.

The role requires one year of related experience or formal training, plus a valid MT Class A license with tank endorsement and MEC; forklift certification within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• One (1) years’ experience as a lubrication technician, light duty tire technician, or mechanic’s assistant.
• Formal light or heavy-duty technical training and/or certification(s) will also be considered.
• Requires working knowledge of basic record keeping.
• A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions, a tank endorsement and a MEC; forklift certification within 3 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and replace nonfunctional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Replace worn or defective parts and tires; lubricate and clean components.
