Job summary

Jordan Foster Construction is seeking a seasoned Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair construction equipment, trucks, and paving machines. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance, and order parts using manuals and diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of computer equipment testing technologies.
• Provide personal hand tools and storage to perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
• Able to work a flexible schedule and/or after hours if required.
• Positive attitude and enjoy working in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic with a focus on quality and safety.
• Computer skills are a plus.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret manuals to diagnose repairs and order parts for various heavy equipment.
• Perform visual inspections and provide written report of conditions.
• Complete routine preventive maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs.
• Inspect trucks, cranes, bulldozers and other heavy equipment.
• Follow directions and work independently without supervision.
• Use a small assortment of hand tools to complete tasks.
• Comply with safety precautions and understand hazards of the position.
• Maintain the assigned area, equipment, and mechanic truck.
• Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment.
• Repair and adjust equipment and replace faulty parts.
• Service machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms.
• Report damaged or faulty equipment to supervisor.
• Perform major repair work when necessary.
• Consult with other mechanics and provide feedback.
• Routinely travel to various job sites.
• Enforce on-site safety and project procedures.
• Attend work as required to maintain crew efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
