Job summary

North Wind Portage in Moab, Utah seeks a skilled Mechanic to service, repair, and maintain heavy equipment for the UMTRA project. You will work on trucks, bulldozers, excavators, and more, at Moab and Crescent Junction sites, performing diagnostics, routine maintenance, and complex repairs.

The role requires 2-7 years’ heavy equipment experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain U.S. government clearance. Travel 0-25% and a team-focused, safety-conscious mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-7 years of heavy equipment service, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair of heavy equipment.
• Skilled in the use of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment, welding equipment, use of hand tools for repairs, and servicing of heavy equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
• Ability to read manuals and schematics.
• Ability to communicate professionally with other mechanics about repair work needed.
• Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.
• Ability to read and comply with project direction contained in project-specific plans and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing on various systems that are found on heavy equipment.
• Performing equipment service maintenance requirements, including oil and hydraulic changes.
• Maintaining inventory of parts and support supplies to perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintaining service records and preparing cost materials estimates.
• Overhauling engines, replacing engines, and rebuilding components.
• Keeping tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Road testing equipment.
• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on fleet of intermodal shipping containers.
