Job summary

REMPREX, INC. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic based in San Bernardino, CA to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel and hydraulic systems on forklifts, cranes and other equipment.

You will perform preventive maintenance per OEM specs, read schematics, and complete accurate work orders. This role requires after-hours call coverage, a valid CA driver's license, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs in outdoor settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining heavy equipment such as forklifts, manlifts, hostlers, reach stackers, front and side loaders, cranes, etc.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Mechanical aptitude with strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot in these areas.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical and hydraulic schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Willingness to work after hours call outs.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb, bend, and work in outdoor conditions and at heights.
• Understand and abide by Company and Railroad safety policies.
• Recognize all colors in a normal spectrum.
• Must own a substantial set of industry-standard tools.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
• Perform detailed equipment inspections and preventative maintenance per OEM specs.
• Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to assess condition and repair needs.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records with accuracy.
• Perform welding or fabrication repairs as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and proper tool storage.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns in field or yard with urgency.
• Communicate status and repairs to supervisors and team members.
