Job summary

JB Harris Transport LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment across the United States. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical background and the ability to service a variety of equipment in a fast-paced environment.

You will work both in the shop and outdoors, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, document work, and comply with safety standards.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification and hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read schematics, prints, and service manuals.
• Welding and fabrication knowledge is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and commitment to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, and drivetrains.
• Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections of critical components.
• Perform light assembly work, including attaching buckets, hydraulic couplers, forks & carriages.
• Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning systems, suspensions, brakes, and steering systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Utilize diagnostic software, test equipment, and precision measuring tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Complete all work orders, inspection reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards, using proper PPE and safe shop practices.
• Maintain accountability for company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Assist in mentoring and training junior mechanics or apprentices when applicable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
