Job summary

M. J. Electric is seeking a skilled Field Mechanic to troubleshoot, maintain and repair a wide range of equipment used on electrical construction projects across the region.

The role focuses on engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, with emphasis on safety, quality, and timely service. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience with heavy equipment, strong welding and fabrication skills, and a valid CDL.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled or tracked) or trucks.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams.
• Strong welding (Stick/MIG) and fabrication skills.
• Must possess a valid CDL (Class A or B) or have the ability to obtain one.
• Basic understanding of DOT Regulations.
• Basic understanding of iPhones, iPads and computers.
• Good organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographic area.
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Customer service skills.
• High School graduate.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools.
• Replace and repair damaged components
• Perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes and maintenance checks and all equipment
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repairing all types of heavy equipment, trailers, aerial lift platforms, bulldozer, bucket trucks
• Annual DOT and Crane Inspections
• Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
• Extensive travel required
