Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform inspections, diagnostic testing, repairs, and routine maintenance on heavy equipment. You will work with minimal direction, possibly guiding others, and contribute to safety and reliability across our fleet.

The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs, with responsibilities including servicing according to schedules, diagnosing issues, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate with customers and coworkers.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Familiarity with using a computer.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment safely per regulations and policies.
• Service equipment per maintenance schedules and daily inspection reports.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues; perform repairs or replacements.
• Perform emergency repairs on breakdowns.
• Inspect, lubricate, fuel and service equipment; manage fluids and filters.
• Inspect and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, air, and brake systems.
• Maintain repair orders, parts usage and repair times in a computerized system.
• Keep work area clean and safe; adhere to OSHA standards.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
