Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Kentucky seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment, ensuring safe operation for our customers and communities. You will follow maintenance schedules and service procedures while accurately documenting work performed.

The role requires 1–2 years of applicable experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with diverse equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience using repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot equipment.
• 1-2 years of applicable experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Service equipment per maintenance schedules and daily inspection reports
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacements
• Perform emergency repairs on breakdowns
• Inspect, lubricate, fuel and service equipment
• Check, fill, and/or change appropriate fluids and filters
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, air, and brake systems
• Identify, perform repairs, and make adjustments to various components and operating systems on the equipment or related components
• Ensure all safety devices on equipment are in good working order
• Perform routine welding repairs to equipment
• Maintain accurate repair orders, parts usage, and repair times through the utilization of a computerized system
• Perform routine housekeeping duties related to materials, tools, shop, and work areas to maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers
• Perform oher duties as assigned
