City of Dayton is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy equipment, including trucks, graders, sweepers, and fire apparatus. The role may involve supervising fellow technicians during servicing tasks.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED with relevant journeyman experience or an associate degree in Automotive/Truck Maintenance, and must meet Ohio CDL licensing requirements within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND 3 years of journeyworker level experience as an automotive, truck or heavy equipment mechanic, including experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND 3 years of experience as a City of Dayton Automotive Servicer II, Automotive Mechanic or Special Equipment Mechanic.
• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND a 2 year post high school automotive or truck maintenance program certificate AND 1 year of experience as an automotive, truck or heavy equipment mechanic including experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Associate degree in Automotive or Truck Maintenance.

Responsabilités

• The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs maintenance and repair of heavy automotive equipment, including heavy trucks, graders, street sweepers, power shovels, fire engines, and related road construction equipment.
• Occasionally supervise personnel involved in the servicing of equipment or assist journey worker mechanics.
