Job summary

The City of Dayton seeks a skilled vehicle maintenance worker to service district buses and fleet vehicles. You will diagnose and repair electrical and fuel systems, rebuild engines, and ensure braking systems are safe and reliable.

You must perform preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and document work while maintaining a clean work area. A valid driver’s license and eventual Ohio CDL eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance work including thorough knowledge of diesel and gas engine management systems, anti-lock brakes systems, emission control systems, and engine diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain buses, cars, vans, and other district vehicles.
• Diagnose simple and complex automotive problems.
• Repair electrical and fuel systems, rebuild engines and braking systems.
• Inspect and replace drive train components.
• Perform regular maintenance per preventative schedules and respond to emergency breakdowns.
• Keep records of work performed and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
