Job summary

Sunstate Equipment is hiring a Technician III in Portland, OR. The role requires 5-7 years of diesel mechanic experience in construction, heavy equipment, or rental settings. You will diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, drivetrains, and hydraulic/electrical systems while maintaining safety and quality.

A DOT medical card is required or can be obtained with assistance. Typical schedule is Mon-Fri, 6:30AM-3:30PM, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years' experience as diesel mechanic in construction, heavy equipment, or equipment rental.
• Must have your own tools for repairs.
• Experience with diesel and gas engines and drivetrains.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance and various repairs on hydraulic, electrical, ignition, pneumatic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills including electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, ignition, and drivetrain.
• DOT medical card required or assistance to obtain one.
• Clean driving record; on-call rotation possible; safety-focused culture.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting are essential.

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and replace/repair faulty components.
• Maintain safety standards and keep accurate service records.
• Assist with on-call rotations and communicate with supervisors.

Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30AM- 3:30PM, Overtime based on business need.

Have you got what it takes?

• Must have the tools you need to perform repairs in this line of work.
• Experience with diesel and gas engines as well as drivetrains is required.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance, major, and minor repairs on hydraulic, electrical, ignition, pneumatic systems is required.
• You will have strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills; experience with electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, ignition, and drivetrain.
• A DOT medical card is required - don't have one? Don't worry! We can help you get yours.
• Clean driving record as you may be in the on-call rotation; maintaining a safe driving record is the highest priority to maintain our safety culture.
• Solving problems and troubleshooting go hand-in-hand in this role.
