Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a skilled diesel mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment at our Portland, OR location.

The role requires 5–7 years of diesel experience, tools for repairs, and the ability to troubleshoot diesel and gas engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, minor and major repairs, and work with a team dedicated to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic in construction, heavy equipment, or rental settings.
• Must have the tools needed to perform repairs in this line of work.
• Experience with diesel and gas engines and drivetrains is required.
• Experience with hydraulic, electrical, ignition and pneumatic systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills essential.
• DOT medical card required; support to obtain if needed.
• Clean driving record; may be in on‑call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform diesel and gas engine repairs and routine maintenance.
• Carry out major and minor repairs on hydraulic, electrical, ignition and pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose issues, troubleshoot and implement fixes to equipment.
• Maintain safe driving record and be available for on‑call rotation.

• You will have strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills; experience with electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, ignition, and drivetrain.

• Clean driving record as you may be in the on-call rotation; maintaining a safe driving record is the highest priority to maintain our safety culture.
• Solving problems and troubleshooting go hand-in-hand in this role.
