Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy machinery such as forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes at our Phoenix, AZ site. You will perform preventive maintenance, keep detailed service records, and work closely with operators and supervisors to keep equipment safe and running.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in heavy equipment maintenance, strong mechanical/hydraulic/electrical skills, and relevant ASE or OEM

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM-specific) are a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes to identify issues.
  • Perform repairs and routine maintenance on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend machinery life.

  • Adhere to safety regulations and cooperate with team members to meet objectives.

Job Description

What you’re responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough inspections and diagnostics on various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes, to identify mechanical issues.
  • Performing repairs and routine maintenance on equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
  • Maintaining necessary parts, tools, and supplies to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining detailed records of repairs, maintenance work, and parts used. Completing service reports and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Adhering to safety regulations and protocols while working on equipment. Follow company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Working closely with other mechanics, operators, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues and support overall team objectives.
Qualifications

To join our team:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role or Completion of a Diesel Technician program or school.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Experience with various types of heavy equipment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM-specific certifications) are a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.
