Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our team. You will read blueprints, install and align machinery, and perform preventive maintenance.

You’ll operate hoisting equipment and troubleshoot diverse machinery in a heavy industrial setting. The role requires welding competency, safety-first work habits, and the ability to document parts and work orders.

Qualifications

• Experience working safely in a heavy industrial environment.
• Proficient in welding and basic equipment repair.
• Experience completing preventative maintenance tasks, checklists, and work orders with proper parts documentation.
• Able to work independently, prioritize tasks based on production urgency, and stay focused on execution.
• Able to work indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Operating hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
• Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
• Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Assembling machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
