Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Phoenix to conduct inspections, diagnose issues, and perform repairs on a range of heavy machines including forklifts, skid steers, and cranes. You will also implement preventive maintenance schedules and maintain thorough documentation of repairs and parts used.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or completion of a Diesel Technician program.
  • Eligibility to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
  • Certifications such as ASE or OEM-specific certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Create and follow preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Manage parts, tools, and records; complete service reports accurately.
  • Follow safety regulations and collaborate with team to resolve issues.

Job Description
What you're responsible for:
  • Conducting thorough inspections and diagnostics on various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and cranes, to identify mechanical issues.
  • Performing repairs and routine maintenance on equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
  • Maintaining necessary parts, tools, and supplies to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining detailed records of repairs, maintenance work, and parts used. Completing service reports and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Adhering to safety regulations and protocols while working on equipment. Follow company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Working closely with other mechanics, operators, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues and support overall team objectives.
Qualifications
To join our team:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role or Completion of a Diesel Technician program or school.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Experience with various types of heavy equipment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM-specific certifications) are a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.
