Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Technician to diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components on our heavy construction fleet. The home base is Shippingport, PA, with extensive travel to multiple jobsites.

This role requires a two-year technical degree in diesel technology or related field and 5+ years of field experience. You will use a laptop for diagnostics, write service reports, and participate in training programs while working on

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosis and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components on heavy equipment in field service.
• Utilize a laptop for information and diagnostic purposes and for safe assembly/disassembly of components.
• Write and complete service reports and participate in company training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned; focus on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers and related gear.
• Willingness to work across shop and field environments.

Job Description:

Heavy Equipment Field Technician

Responsible for repairs and maintenance on large construction equipment.

*Start and end time may vary depending on the workload and job needs. *

*\ *Home base for this opportunity will be in the Shippingport, PA area. However, there will be extensive travel involved for this position and this individual will spend much of their time traveling to complete repairs on multiple jobsites. *

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnosis and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components associated with heavy construction equipment in a field environment.
• Utilize a laptop computer for information and diagnostic purposes for the safe assembly and disassembly of components.
• Write and complete service reports.
• Participate in company training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• This position is focusing on Heavy equipment, this will also include trucks, trailers and small construction equipment as needed.

Education and Experience:

• Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Use hand tools, air tools, test equipment, powered shop tools, and overhead crane.
• Operation of a variety of types of equipment
• Diagnosis and repair of diesel engines
• Maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of equipment electrical systems
• Diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems
• Hydraulic troubleshooting
• Use of hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Crane knowledge a plus
• Ability to properly document work completed
• Desire to take on new challenges
• Willingness to work on a variety of equipment in both the shop and field environment
