Job summary

Kokosing Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Technician to diagnose and repair heavy equipment across multiple jobsites. The role requires extensive travel and a base in the Shippingport, PA area.

The candidate should have a two-year technical degree in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics and 5+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. You will document work and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components on heavy construction equipment.
• Utilize a laptop for information and diagnostic purposes for safe assembly/disassembly.
• Write and complete service reports.
• Participate in company training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Focus on heavy equipment including trucks, trailers and small construction equipment as needed.

Job Description

Heavy Equipment Field Technician Responsible for repairs and maintenance on large construction equipment.

• Start and end time may vary depending on the workload and job needs.
• Home base for this opportunity will be in the Shippingport, PA area. However, there will be extensive travel involved for this position and this individual will spend much of their time traveling to complete repairs on multiple jobsites.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnosis and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components associated with heavy construction equipment in a field environment.
• Utilize a laptop computer for information and diagnostic purposes for the safe assembly and disassembly of components.
• Write and complete service reports.
• Participate in company training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• This position is focusing on Heavy equipment, this will also include trucks, trailers and small construction equipment as needed.

Education and Experience

Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar preferred.

5+ years’ experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Use hand tools, air tools, test equipment, powered shop tools, and overhead crane.
• Operation of a variety of types of equipment.
• Diagnosis and repair of diesel engines.
• Maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of equipment electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems.
• Hydraulic troubleshooting.
• Use of hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Crane knowledge a plus.
• Ability to properly document work completed.
• Desire to take on new challenges.
• Willingness to work on a variety of equipment in both the shop and field environment.
