Summary of Primary Functions:

Dobbs Equipment is seeking an experienced Preventative Maintenance Service Technician. This position is responsible for performing high-quality lubrication and periodic maintenance service work on heavy equipment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work performed. This job description does not include a complete listing of all duties and functions. Management reserves the right to assign other duties or projects as necessary.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)

1. Follow all safety rules and regulations while maintaining a safe work environment.
2. Work independently with limited supervision.
3. Service equipment with proper fluids and filters.
4. Complete machine inspections.
5. Build strong customer service relations.
6. Handle customer problems objectively and tactfully.
7. Prepare all reports and forms related to job assignments.
8. Report additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager for proper and safe operation.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
10. Report unsafe or unserviceable shop tools, equipment, or vehicles to the Service Manager.
11. Participate in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
12. Present a professional image of the dealership at all times.
13. Adhere to safety policies of Dobbs Equipment and clients.
14. Work hours may include up to 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays as needed.
15. Operate company vehicles safely following motor vehicle laws.

Qualifications:

Requirements include:

• Valid Class B CDL Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and operation.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using proper tools and procedures.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or at least 2 years related experience.
• Stay current with technical updates.
• Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong time management and self-motivation.
• Flexible schedule including weekends or overtime.
• Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and diagrams.
• Skills in disassembly, assembly, and repair of components.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
• Quick learner with innovative thinking.
• Overnight travel less than 5% for training.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a service shop with exposure to temperature variations, noise, fumes, dust, and mechanical parts.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to:

• Use Personal Protective Equipment.
• Use full range of motion for back, arms, hands, legs.
• Lifting loads over 50 lbs frequently.
• Climb onto mobile equipment (3-4 feet).
• Perform vision and communication tasks.
