Job summary

A Hiring Company in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a hands-on production worker responsible for the setup, assembly and test of components and equipment, including Puller-Tensioner machines and other standard or custom products. You will follow the bill of materials and production documents, fit up hydraulic and mechanical parts, read blueprints, and use hand tools.

The job requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and memos.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, assemble or production of components into completed units per BOM and documents.
  • Demonstrates fit up, installation of hydraulic and mechanical components, electrical wiring, plumbing.
  • Read blue prints and schematics, handle materials and hand tools.
  • Perform adjustments, repairs, or setups under supervision.
  • Inspect parts using visual inspection gauges and check fixtures.
  • Operate with minimal supervision and maintain tools in storage.
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required.

Responsible for the production, assembly and test required to produce all products including but not limited to Puller-Tensioner machines, overhead, underground, distribution, transmission and/or any other class of equipment manufactured as standard products & custom equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for the setup, assembly or production of component parts into completed units adhering to the bill of materials and production documents
  • Demonstrates fit up, installation of hydraulic and mechanical components, electrical wiring, plumbing, etc.
  • Responsible for reading blue prints and schematics, handling necessary materials and hand tools
  • Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision
  • Inspects parts by using visual inspection, gauges, tape measures, check fixtures, or other inspection equipment
  • Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision
  • Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary
  • Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping
  • Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision

Sherman + Reilly is paying a $1,000 signing bonus. $500 will be paid after successful completion of 90 days and $500 will be paid after successful completion of 180 days.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree

6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.

Compensation details: 21.93-29.66 Hourly Wage
