Job summary

Penn Engineering is seeking an Assembly Technician to assemble hydraulics and mechanical components for industrial machinery in Shelby Township, Michigan. You will follow prints, perform tests, and document quality steps to ensure conformity with specifications.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, addressing assembly issues, and completing final test protocols while adhering to safety standards. This is a full-time on-site role in Michigan.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Manufacturing experience with hydraulic assembly preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and work instructions.
  • Familiar with hand and power tools in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong math skills for basic measurement and verification.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble hydraulics and mechanical components per specifications.
  • Follow assembly instructions, blueprints and parts lists.
  • Prepare parts and subassemblies for assembly work.
  • Inspect completed components and verify against specs.
  • Document production and quality data neatly.
  • Resolve assembly issues with team lead for resources.
  • Maintain inventory levels and notify for supplies.
  • Assemble main and subassemblies to pass tests.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Position Summary

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling hydraulics and mechanical components for installation into industrial machinery accurately to the print specifications and with a high level of workmanship. The technician will also execute all test procedures and complete quality documentation as needed for new and repair assemblies.

  • Assembles machines and sub-assemblies based on the engineering specification, following all work instructions
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
  • Verifies specifications by inspecting/measuring completed component as a part of the pre-assembly check
  • Resolves assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying team lead to obtain additional resources
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; notify team lead for placing and expediting orders for supplies
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms neatly
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Assemble main and sub assembly in a timely manner to ensure it passes final test protocol as per quality documents
  • Other duties as necessary

Requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Able to sit or stand for 8 - 10 hours a day
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Manufacturing Experience, extra emphasis on hydraulic assembly
  • Skilled with mechanics, hand, and power tool operations
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math
  • Ability to read engineering prints and work instructions
  • Safety & Quality Focus
  • Basic computer and office 365 knowledge
  • Solid judgment and decision making
  • Full time position
  • Must be able to work Monday – Friday 6:00AM – 4:30PM (10 hours)
  • Overtime as needed

Salary Range

$20 - $24 per hour
