Job summary

Sherman + Reilly is seeking an assembler to participate in production, assembly and testing of our products, including puller-tensioner machines, overhead, underground, and other equipment. You will setup, assemble and test components per BOM and production documents, read blueprints, install hydraulic and mechanical parts, and ensure quality through inspection and proper housekeeping.

The role requires basic math, ability to read instructions, and a high school diploma or GED, with at least 6

  • 6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, assemble or produce component parts into completed units per BOM and production documents.
  • Demonstrate fit-up and installation of hydraulic/mechanical components, electrical wiring, plumbing, etc.
  • Read blueprints and schematics; handle materials and tools accordingly.
  • Perform minor adjustments, repairs, or setups under supervision.
  • Inspect parts using gauges, tools, and inspection equipment.
  • Perform various assembly tasks with minimal supervision.

Description

Summary:

Responsible for the production, assembly and test required to produce all products including but not limited to Puller-Tensioner machines, overhead, underground, distribution, transmission and/or any other class of equipment manufactured as standard products & custom equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for the setup, assembly or production of component parts into completed units adhering to the bill of materials and production documents
  • Demonstrates fit up, installation of hydraulic and mechanical components, electrical wiring, plumbing, etc.
  • Responsible for reading blue prints and schematics, handling necessary materials and hand tools
  • Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision
  • Inspects parts by using visual inspection, gauges, tape measures, check fixtures, or other inspection equipment
  • Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision
  • Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary
  • Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping
  • Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision

Sherman + Reilly is paying a $1,000 signing bonus. $500 will be paid after successful completion of 90 days and $500 will be paid after successful completion of 180 days.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree

6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.

The temperature in the work environment is uncontrolled, so the employee is exposed to both extreme cold and hot temperatures.
