Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semis and trailers, including brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems. You will perform preventative maintenance and fleet inspections.

You will operate diagnostic tools, handle tire service, maintain records, and respond to roadside calls with a service truck. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and overtime is required; employer offers training and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers.
• Perform brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical service.
• Conduct fleet inspections and PM inspections.
• Respond to roadside service calls with the company truck.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to DOT regulations and safety guidelines.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
