Job summary

System One is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for heavy-duty maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet, including transit coaches. The role focuses on diesel engine diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and safe operation in a 24/7 environment.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of progressive diesel mechanics experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to obtain a Virginia CDL. Strong troubleshooting and record-keeping skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check
• Valid Virginia driver’s license and ability to obtain a Virginia CDL
• Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, and electrical components
• Perform in-shop and roadside repairs using diagnostic software
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections at scheduled intervals
• Maintain detailed service records of repairs and parts
• Operate safely in a 24/7 environment and perform road tests
