Job summary

Boyd Gaming Corporation is seeking a Kitchen Steward to perform heavy cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment, including stoves, hoods, and ovens. The role requires lifting, standing, and climbing, with strict safety and cleanliness standards.

Candidates must have one year of kitchen cleaning experience, be flexible for all shifts, and complete Serve Safe training. A valid driver’s license and gaming license are required where applicable, along with background and drug screenings.

Qualifications

• Familiar with handling cleaning chemicals and compounds for all types of kitchen equipment.
• Must successfully complete Serve Safe training.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and gaming license in employment state or other jurisdictions.
• Must successfully pass background check.
• Must successfully pass alcohol and drug screening.
• Must be 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate materials and equipment to maintain cleanliness of the work station and report issues to supervisor.
• Read caution or safety notices in English.
• Perform substantial physical activity during the shift including standing, crouching, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
• Operate kitchen equipment, stoves, and ovens.
• Operate heavy cleaning equipment such as steam cleaners and floor scrubbers.
• Climb stairs and ladders as part of duties.
• Work in conditions that can be hot, noisy, and wet.
• Ensure station is clean and properly set up before, during, and after shift.

Job Description

Responsible for the heavy‑duty cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment including stoves, hoods, ovens and appliances. Sanitation of stoves, ovens, grills, hoods and steam tables using various body movements—standing, reaching, climbing and stooping for periods of time. Change oil in the deep fryer—lift fryer and drain oil, either by lifting the fryer bucket and/or releasing the drain lever on the larger units. Clean fryer using scouring pad in a circular motion and replace oil.

• Responsible for the tasks assigned by the Steward Assistant, Executive Steward and Supervisor.
• Coordinate materials and equipment to maintain cleanliness/sanitation of the work station, and communicate problems or concerns to supervisor or kitchen management.
• Must understand written English to read any caution or safety notices.
• Must perform substantial physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift, including work in confined spaces and awkward positions, requiring standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to use scraper, griddle brick, scouring pad, towels, squeegee, and heavy‑duty gloves.
• Must be able to operate kitchen equipment, stoves and ovens.
• Must be able to operate heavy equipment, including high‑pressure steam cleaner, heavy‑floor scrubbers and other cleaning equipment.
• Must climb stairs and ladders to perform duties 100 percent of the time.
• Must work in unfavorable conditions that can occasionally be hot, noisy, and wet.
• Must check station before, during, and after the shift for proper set‑up and cleanliness.
• Must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance.
