We have established lasting relationships with many residential, commercial, and industrial utility customers. We are a unique electrical contractor due to the fact that we perform so many different types of electrical work. We perform residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work, including sports lighting, airport lighting, traffic signal, underground systems, pole-line, and utility work. With over 120 employees and 300 pieces of equipment, there is no job too small or too large for Jess Howard Electric Company.

Position Description Details

The Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the company's fleet of heavy equipment, including backhoes, track hoes, skid steers, and other construction equipment.

Responsibilities Include

• Maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair equipment and trucks, including issues with diesel, hydraulics, and heavy equipment needs.
• Perform preventive maintenance schedules, required inspections, and winterization procedures.
• Respond to equipment repair needs in the field, as required, by conducting and/or coordinating repair activities.
• Correct equipment deficiencies by replacing, repairing, or adjusting sub-assemblies.
• Verify all adjustments or repairs.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements.
• Maintain assigned equipment appearance by cleaning and washing, if applicable.
• Maintain equipment records by documenting all services and repairs and filing them on-site.
• Assist with deliveries of heavy equipment to the job sites.
• Update and improve technical knowledge and ability by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulatory publications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Include

• 2-3 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Technical/vocational school degree.
• Class A CDL.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Work Arrangement

In office/shop, occasionally on job sites.

Salary Range

$19-25/hr, based on experience.
